Copernicus Festival 2024

Social Media Campaign

The popular science Copernicus Festival is a big annual event organized by the Copernicus Center Foundation. The festival promotes science and philosophy, showcasing their impact on all areas of human life. The entire festival week is packed with lectures, workshops, meetings and exhibitions. In 2024, the main theme was “Machine”.

The client requested a couple of digital formats in both 16:9 and 9:16 ratios. The aim was to promote the festival and invite the viewers to the main lectures conducted by the festival’s star-guests. As it usually happens with this client, we had unlimited creative freedom.

The only prompt was: “NO AI, everybody is doing AI this year, LET'S NOT DO AI."

For the creative part, we decided to symbolically depict a human as a learning machine.  We wanted to play around with the main theme, capture the interdisciplinary nature of the event and, of course, persuade all the fantastic world-class scientists to participate :)
Their recordings were edited with documentary found footage, glitches and sound design, giving it a wider philosophical meaning.

How to organize an overseas shoot on a budget?
The four Polish guests were available for on-site recording in different Polish cities, so it all went quite smoothly. But what about Professors Plummer and Chittka who, at that time, were both on the other hemisphere - in Mexico and the US?

As they say, every limitation creates new opportunities.

We came up with a remote film recording workflow, which, on the professors’ side, required only a smartphone and a desk lamp. We emailed them a PDF with easy-to-follow instructions for the setup and conducted the entire recording via a video call with the help of a monitoring app.

To be honest, even we were surprised by how good the results turned out.

The client and all six star-guests were more than happy with the videos. The campaign was successful on different social media platforms, with the KPI in this case being a full conference hall and no available seats during all the lectures.
